Our Program

At Ctrl Shift, we believe every student deserves the chance to thrive in the digital future — no matter their zip code. Our programs are designed to meet students where they are, building both confidence and skills through hands-on learning, mentorship, and teamwork.

Explorers Track (Ages 11–13)

Schedule: 12 weeks · 1 session per week · 2 hours per session

For middle school students just beginning their digital journey, the Explorers Track focuses on building strong digital foundations while sparking curiosity and creativity.
What Students Learn:
  • Computer & Digital Basics – Windows/PC navigation, Microsoft Office, safe internet use
  • Creative Tech Projects – Canva design, Scratch programming, introductory robotics
  • Future Explorers – Fun introductions to coding and AI through guided activities and guest speakers

Program Outcomes:

Innovators finish with a portfolio-ready project (website, app demo, or AI prototype), stronger communication skills, and a clearer pathway toward college and advanced tech education.

Innovators Track (Ages 15–16)

Schedule: 12 weeks · 2 sessions per week · 90 minutes per session

For high school students preparing for higher education, the Innovators Track blends applied digital skills with leadership development and exposure to future technologies.
What Students Learn:
  • Applied Digital Skills – Advanced Excel, presentations, website building (HTML/CSS or WordPress)
  • Programming & AI Foundations – Python basics, intro to AI/data science, build a simple chatbot or prototype
  • Leadership & Tech for Change – Public speaking, teamwork, and a capstone project solving a real-world challenge with technology

Program Outcomes:

Innovators finish with a portfolio-ready project (website, app demo, or AI prototype), stronger communication skills, and a clearer pathway toward college and advanced tech education.

Looking Ahead

Ctrl Shift programs are designed to grow with our students and our city. In the years ahead, we will add specialized tracks in AI, digital media, and entrepreneurship — culminating in the opening of the Ctrl Shift Learning Center, a permanent hub for innovation in Chicago’s underserved neighborhoods.
